Marketing Communications

Scope and Responsibilities

The scope of this position is that of defining, implementing and delivering marketing communications support for the Potomac
Netpreneur Program.   The overall responsibility of this position involves understanding the range of program
deliverables from large magnet events to new features in the Programís Web-site (the Netpreneur Exchange at netpreneur.org) and
ensuring that these events and features are effectively described, communicated and promoted to their target audiences.  This
includes all aspects of marketing communications except for media/public relations.

Secondarily, this position has the direct responsibility for the planning and execution of several Program activities, including
general network events which today is comprised primarily of our monthly Coffee & DoughNets, the collection, qualification,
development and dissemination of Program success stories (and the Success Story Database), and the solicitation, collection and
placing into context events in the region (and the Calendar within Netpreneur Exchange).
Skills

The position requires an individual with strong marketing communication skills who can work closely with the team and netpreneurs to
assess how our current programs and products, both individually and as a group, position the Netpreneur Program to best reach and
meet the needs of our current and potential audience. They will work closely to integrate their activities with the Web site
specifically by writing content and monitoring registration processes and event follow-ups.   They should possess excellent writing
and creative skills for collateral development, to assist in the publication of Netpreneur News, and in helping write or direct the
writing of articles.

Personal Make-up

We seek someone who possesses high self-confidence, a strong intellect capable of grasping concepts and converting them into action,
and is comfortable working in uncertainty and ambiguity.  The individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who can turn on a dime from
the highest level of strategic thinking to the "got to get it done administrative details" will fit with this team.  Nothing less
will do.

Specific Skills:

Solid marketing communications background
Excellent writing skills
Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills
Strong ability to organize and handle a multitude of projects at one time with attention to detail
Solid grasp of the Internet and WWW
Team player with a positive "can do" attitude willing to "pitch in as necessary"
High energy level
