1.1 THE CULTURE OF SALES
According to Gina Dubbe at Tuesday's Coffee & DoughNets, when
compensating salespeople, "You don't pay for activity, you pay for
results." That's not just a monetary difference from other positions
in a company, it's a cultural one as well. While cultural change may not
be the first challenge you think of when beginning to build your sales
organization, it will probably be the first one you encounter, so be
prepared. Between them, our C&D speakers-- Dubbe of Walker Ventures,
Carolyn Hyde of SER Solutions, Walt Rogers of Akamai, and Bob Skinner of
Icode -- have more than 80 years of experience in growing sales, which
translated into lots of practical advice on topics ranging from cultural
differences, to who to hire first, tips for compensation plans, managing
salespeople, and much more. Get an overview of the event in the summary
article now available at the Netpreneur website, look for the complete
transcript and video next week, and pencil in March 25 for the next
C&D event.
