Our next Meet The Investor session is scheduled for Friday, April
19, your opportunity to get one-on-one face time with Washington
Capital Ventures (WCV). To be considered, email
investorservices@netpreneur.org to get a Netpreneur NET-INVEST

by Friday, April 12. Representatives of WCV will review the forms
and select a handful of entrepreneurs to attend private 45-minute
meetings at Meet The Investor. Representing a combined portfolio of
over $2 billion, WCV is a partnership between Lightspeed Venture
Partners, Sevin Rosen Funds, ComVentures, and two Northern
Virginia-based entrepreneurs, Lev Volftsun and Ian Landy, which
seeks to fund early stage, East Coast-based technology companies.

1.2 LIMITED PARTNERS, UNLIMITED OPTIONS
Stop me if you've heard this one before. "We have to look carefully
at whether you're focused and disciplined, at your performance over
time, the quality of your people, whether your market dynamics make
sense, and how you stack up against the competition." Is it another
squirming entrepreneur getting the slow grilling from a VC? Nope, it
's what Limited Partners (LP) are telling VCs these days when
considering whether to invest (or even pull out of) their venture
funds. Enjoy the comeuppance while you can, however, because the
changing dynamic between LPs and VCs is heading straight down the
food chain, and it's one reason why money's been so tight lately.
For more of an insider's look at the VC industry and what it means
to you, check out the summary article from yesterday's Coffee &
DoughNets, "VC Confidential," featuring insights from VCs Jack
Biddle of Novak Biddle Venture Partners and John Burke of ABS
Ventures, and LPs Catharine Burkett, Director of Private Investments
at the University of Richmond; Brian Wade of Virginia Retirement
System; and George Wilcox of Bessemer Trust. And look for the
transcript and video next week.

1.3 HOW MARKETERS USE INTERACTIVE TOOLS
Subscribe now to Netpreneur's AdMarketing list and you'll join just
in time for a discussion beginning Monday, April 1, about "How
Marketers Use Interactive Tools." The discussion will focus on how
tools such as forums, chat, and IM are being used to acquire
prospects, retain customers, and build better relationships. We've
invited a number of authors, community builders, technology vendors,
customer service gurus, and others to join this extended discussion.
It should go on for a while, but get in early so you don't miss a
single tip, trick, or take-away.
