1.1 STRAIGHT, NO CHASER
Coffee & DoughNets returns next month for a special nighttime event.
Why at night? 'Cause we've booked The Beermat Entrepreneur and your
editor@ hasn't had beer and doughnuts for breakfast since his
college days.

What's The Beermat Entrepreneur? It's the new book from author and
entrepreneur Mike Southon on "What You Really Need to Know to Turn a
Good Idea Into a Great Business." As he does in the book, Mike will
take us through the crucial stages between the first notes on a
beermat (cocktail napkin for us Yanks) to a business that is sound,
lasting, and profitable, including the major hurdles and the lessons
that all entrepreneurs wish somebody had told them earlier. Since
its publication in March, the book has been a runaway success in
Britain and the number one business book at Amazon.com UK. Mike was
the co-founder of The Instruction Set, an open systems consultancy,
and has since been involved in seven startup ventures, responsible
for sales and marketing as well as helping to secure funding. C&D
will be Wednesday, September 18, 6:00-9:00 PM, at the Capital
Hilton, Washington, DC. Sign up now.
